FAQ & Resources for Beginner Belly Dancers

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear to class?  Do I wear shoes or is it ok to go barefoot?

Wear comfortable clothes, suitable for a good workout.  Many women wear yoga pants, a form-fitting t-shirt or sports bra and a hip scarf.  You are not required to expose your belly; however, belly dance is accepting of women of all shapes and sizes, therefore there is no reason to feel self conscious.  Most women dance barefoot, but dance shoes are ok too.

Where do I get a hip scarf to wear in class or belly dance music to practice at home?

Check out Viva Belly Dance.  You can find a variety of items for belly dance practice and performance here like Hip Scarves , Silk Veils , Finger Cymbals , Swords , Canes , Dance Shoes Yoga & Dance Pants , DVD’s, Books and CD’s.

Where can I see a belly dance show in Dallas?
